Back when it was still feasible for me to offer online readings, I sometimes used a deck of ogham cards of my own making. It’s a tool that’s still dear to my heart: plain white lines painted on worn, black paper.
Part of the pleasure of ogham is the way these simple linear forms can hold so much complexity. Ogham letters are made up of intersections in every sense; they are like meeting points between so many streams of folklore, myth, and magic–some old and some modern. While I enjoy depictive illustrations as much as anyone, they sometimes impose just a bit too much, don’t they? Depictions can guide, but they can also limit. And there is something so lovely about simple things.
So now, although I can’t offer readings to the public, I’m making this deck available for purchase, modeled after my own handmade deck of many years. The minimalist design allows one to read in the style of the modern arboreal tradition (the “tree ogham”), the kennings, or any other system or combination thereof, and each purchase also includes a link to an online guide.
