The Age of Witchery has returned. After a year-long hiatus, both the Age of Witchery Tarot and the Age of Witchery Playing Cards are now available to purchase once again, this time through the MPC Marketplace.
What’s more, the return of these two sister decks includes a few upgrades. Each deck is now printed with a fine linen finish for durability and smooth shuffling and comes housed in a sturdier, high-quality deck box for safe storage. (No more throw-away tuck boxes!) These adjustments are such an improvement in quality, which was and is important to me. And while shipping is still not *quite* as speedy as I would prefer, MPC operates at a larger scale and is known for providing reliable tracking and delivery estimates.
As before, these two decks include my own illustration work alongside meticulously collaged woodcuts from the 1700s, rendered on an aged parchment background. The Age of Witchery Tarot includes imps, magical creatures, sabbat scenes, and numerous witches and sorcerers; court cards feature masked figures in order to emphasize the reading of each court card as an aspect of the querent’s personality. This is a pip-style tarot, designed to be read in the Marseilles manner. (In other words, not Smith-Waite.) The Age of Witchery Playing Card Deck takes the same aesthetic approach to the classic playing card deck, since I view tarot and cartomancy as connected traditions arising from a shared history.
